The History of GUEST.
GUEST was founded in 2008 and launched in 2013, spearheaded by Joey Meen, the GUEST Program took 5 years to design & develop.
The enormous effort & insights of the Program development came from the contributions of a passionate group of volunteering hospitality & service experts & professionals, who shared in the vision of creating the Superyacht Industry Standard for Interior Training.
GUEST has grown in recent years, and now includes a number of Programs, such as an Introduction to the industry, Hospitality for interior crew, Management and Leadership for all onboard HODs; as well as the renown GUEST Purser Program, and the new Yacht Owners Representative Program.
Changing the GUEST acronym in 2022, from “Guidelines for Unified Excellence in Service Training” to the "Guidelines for Excellence in Superyacht Training" to better reflect the education. The GUEST Programs continue to grow & develop, constantly being reviewed, updated & re-designed through the IAMI Maritime Sub Group, to ensure crew are appropriately trained so as to meet guests & owners’ expectations.
IAMI Yacht Interior Certificate of Competency
The IAMI Yacht Interior Certificate of Competency (CoC) is a professional certification designed for Yacht Interior Crew and Pursers, issued by the International Association of Maritime Institutions (IAMI).
The IAMI Yacht Interior CoC signifies professional competence, verifying that an individual has successfully completed industry-specific training and examinations, and meets the recognised standard of learning for their occupational duties.
Earning this certification involves completing various GUEST Certifications of Achievement through the GUEST Hospitality or Purser Programs, delivered by GUEST Accredited Providers.
